All higher education institutions in Hong Kong are required to produce, for every triennium, an academic planning proposal for the University Grants Committee (UGC) to support their bids for resources for new developments. The triennial exercise purports to critically review the recent developments within each institution, and on this basis, to structure developmental and operational priorities for the immediate future that correspond with its institutional role and mission, as well as the changing needs of the community.
